Hello and welcome!
In recent years the Eurovision song contest has become a bit of a farce, mainly a showcase for Terry Wogan's scriptwriter, but remember it also gave us ABBA and finally the movie version of the hit stage show Mamma Mia has reached the screens.
A romantic comedy based around Abba's hit songs. It's had great reviews and Meryl Streep who plays single mum Donna is amazing. Of course, August is a holiday month and we've plenty of good films for youngsters with Prince Caspian, the second part of the Chronicles of Narnia saga and Kung Fu Panda, well that says it all!
Now something different, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, set in pre-war London. Guinevere Pettigrew is a humble governess who is thrust into high society and finds love and makes an enemy.
Looking on into September and a big film for us will be The Duchess - quite a lot of it was filmed in our area last summer and it stars Keira Knightley as Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire, a celebrity beauty of the 18th Century trapped in a loveless marriage whose daring behaviour and outspoken views ensure she will be remembered for more than her good looks.
Ten years on from the first big screen outing, Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) return in X-Files: I want to Believe. The first film received a mixed reception but fans will be queuing for this one. Also in September, Dark Knight - the lates Batman movie with The Joker being played by the late Heath Ledger, and one I'm looking forward to; Wall-E, from the great Pixar company - I've seen bit sof it and it looks really funny.
So that's all for now but here's this month's question......
