Hello again! I hope you had a spookingly good Halloween and that Bonfire night was loud and colourful.
This issue I thought I would look towards the sweeter end of the wine scale, especially wines that go well with puddings and the Elysium black Muscat is such a wine. I first tried this wine in a restaurant and was delighted a few weeks later to find it for sale locally. The Quady winery in California has been making sweet wines since 1975, before that Andrew Quady made fireworks! They started with a Port and produced their first bottles of Elysium in 1983 after being offered a crop of black Muscat grapes.
This wine is a great accompaniment to pudding or even as a pudding itself! It is wonderful with blue cheeses, red fruit desserts, vanilla, dark chocolate and candlelight. It is also best served slightly chilled.
One favorite way to enjoy this wine is to pour it over vanilla ice cream (useful if you forgot to chill it first).
Elysium is Greek for heaven and it certainly lives up to that name. It may only come in a half bottle, but I can guarantee that next time you go to buy some, you’ll come away with two!
