Issue 12 Village Edition - Bouquet goes to Jane Clowes
friendship blooms - village edition issue 12

Show your appreciation for a friend, fellow member of the community or family member and surprise them with a fresh bouquet of flowers courtesy of All Things Local and The Flower Shop.

The recipient of this issue’s bouquet is Jane Clowes of Kilburn. She was nominated by Dawn Holt from Horsley Woodhouse. Here’s what Dawn had to say:

I am nominating Jane Clowes of Kilburn for a bouquet.  Although only in her early 60s, Jane is severely disabled with multiple sclerosis.  Jane had her first (for a long time un-diagnosed) symptoms of MS when she was just 15 but nevertheless has lived life to the full and you very rarely hear her complain.  Instead, Jane is always concerned about other people and it's a joy to visit her and her husband Joe who is also in a wheelchair. Their bouquet will also be enjoyed by the team of wonderful carers who go in to assist them four times a day.” Dawn Holt

Nominating is easy. All you have to do is state in no more than 100 words who you are nominating, which area they live in and the reason’s why you are nominating them. The only rule is that the person receiving the flowers must live or work within the distribution area of All Things Local (listed on the cover). Just write your nomination on a piece of paper and post to Friendship Blooms, All Things Local, 74 Woodhouse Road, Kilburn, Belper, Derbyshire DE56 0NA or email your nomination to karyn@allthingslocal.co.uk putting ‘Friendship Blooms’ as the subject. Please include your full name, address and telephone number on your nomination. Closing date for nominations for the next issue: Saturday 25 April 2009.

Issue 4 Belper Edition - Bouquet goes to Syd Spencer
friendship blooms belper issue 4

Show your appreciation for a friend, fellow member of the community or family member and surprise them with a fresh bouquet of flowers courtesy of All Things Local and Alister Robinson from Lilac Floral Design & Hat Hire - Belper.

The recipient of this issue’s bouquet is Syd Spencer of Belper. He was nominated by one of his daughters Barbara Partridge who now lives in Devon. Here’s what Barbara had to say:

I nominate our father, Syd Spencer, who at 96 is one of Belper's oldest residents. Syd lives independently in the same house that he bought in 1935. He is an inspiration to his family. Widowed 4 years ago, he cooks for himself, shops in Belper when he can, and has the occasional meal out. Dad maintains his garden, enjoying vegetables and particularly flowers and it would be lovely if this nomination were to be successful. His children's families live away from Belper, and it would help us tell him what a brilliant Dad, Grandad, and Great Grandad he really is.” Barbara Partridge

Nominate someone to receive the next bouquet: All you have to do is state in no more than 100 words who you are nominating, their address and the reason’s why you are nominating them. You can nominate more than one person if they are living at the same address... and remember flowers don’t just have to be for women!

The only rule is that the person receiving the flowers must live or work in Belper. Just write your nomination on a piece of paper and post to Friendship Blooms, All Things Local, 74 Woodhouse Road, Kilburn, Belper, Derbyshire DE56 0NA or email your nomination to karyn@allthingslocal.co.uk putting Friendship Blooms as the subject. Please include your full name, address and telephone number on your nomination.

Closing date for nominations for the next issue: Saturday 25 April 2009.
